| HISTORY
The Chicken Inn Brand was developed in Zimbabwe in 1987,
by a Zimbabwean partnership between Michael & Derek Fowler
and Zed Koudounaris.
The concept behind the brand was simply to introduce a world-class
brand to Zimbabwe, whose food market at that time was dominated
by small, individually owned takeaway shops. There was to
be no compromise on quality, service or cleanliness and highly
motivated, energetic people were to be recruited.
The first- store opened in November 1987, with a menu consisting
of fried chicken, a range of hamburgers, chips, salads and
pies. Pies were eventually spun off to become a separate brand,
Bakers Inn.
With attention to detail, focus on speed and strict adherence
to quality and hygiene standards, this one shop grew at such
a rate that a second store was opened in First Street, Harare
within six months.
By consistently analyzing and redefining the product by recruiting
top flight people and incentivising the,." to succeed,
and by servicing good locations, Chicken Inn has grown from
that one store, with plans to develop further throughout Africa.
In addition, several spin off brands .have occurred - Bakers
Inn, Creamy Inn, Pizza Inn and diversification by the parent
company into Master franchises from South Africa, notably
Nando's and Steers.
This success and the future growth of the company is assured
by the continued practice of fundamentals set out in the first
store - no compromise of quality service or cleanliness, management
by the correct use of statistics, strong control and financial
procedures, good old fashioned common sense and a care for
the well being and potential growth of all team members.
